Housing:

There will NOT be one conference hotel this year. This is due to the cost and geographic location of hotels in San Francisco.  We’ve created this guide to help you find an affordable option:

Friends:

-Do you know someone in the area or have a friend of a friend who does? It may seem obvious, but finding someone you know to stay with will be the cheapest option!

Alternative housing:

-Stay in a Hostel or Couchsurf: Hostel World lists 20 hostels in the SF area that have beds for under $50 per night.  Couchsurfing.com will connect you with local folks to stay in their home for a small fee – you can search to see if you can find circus community on their website.

-Use AirBnb. Use our event fb page to find other folks to share a larger house with and save! Look for houses that don’t require an extra fee for additional people so you have the flexibility to add people and decrease cost. You need to act quick with Airbnb… things get scooped up very quickly.

-When searching for a place to stay – type in our exact venue address to see what is around (755 Frederick St, San Francisco, CA 94117).  The Circus Center is on the N Judah line– so when looking at places that would require public transport, consider something close to that line for easy access. You may even want to look across the bridge in Oakland. Remember that San Francisco has steep hills! Make sure you understand the nature of the commute to and from where you are staying as the walk may be more intense than it looks on a map!

Hotel Options:

If you want a conventional hotel, you’ll find that the rates hover in the $400-$600 per night range in San Francisco. If you travel across the Bay and stay in Oakland (a 40 min ride from the event site), you can find hotels that range between $150-$300.  Look for the below reputable hotels on discount sites like kayak.com, booking.com, etc.  These hotels are located as close to San Francisco as possible. The ride is 40 minutes to Circus Center. Marriott City Center at 12th st BART  and Clarion City Center

If you are having trouble finding somewhere to stay, email our housing coordinator Polly at ps.aerial.arts@gmail.com. She will be keeping track of additional leads and housing opportunities as they arise.

Work Study:

We are looking for young adults ages 18-26 who are responsible, reliable, and interested in circus arts. Whether you are interested in circus learning, social circus, teaching, entrepreneurship, or creative development, the EdCon is the place to be. You’ll have the opportunity to take workshops and panels on a myriad of topics and network with circus community leaders, coaches, and performers. All levels and experiences are welcome. Enthusiasm and energy are a must. Apply for work study here!
